Design & Marketing

Branding, Logo & Graphic Design

I've produced a wide variety of logos, graphic design, typesetting & layout, copywriting and marketing materials for diverse clients—primarily small businesses and charities—as a freelance visual designer and branding specialist for the last 8 years. Click any item in the below gallery for more information about the project.

Simpson Design

2010–2017

Simpson Design is a small firm specializing in designing and building high-end, custom, bespoke automobiles—many of them one-of-a-kind—for enthusiast customers all across the US, Canada and clients as far away as Europe, Japan and the Middle East. In my role there for the last 5 years, I've handled branding direction and produced all graphics & marketing materials, product photography and content for online and print publication. Most recently, I refreshed the brand with a new website, photographically illustrating the full process of building a car from beginning to end as well as showcasing all past projects.

Voices Incorporated

2016-2017

I served as VP of Marketing on the board of men's chorus Voices Incorporated, a registered 501(c)3 & chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society based out of Kirkland, WA. I was responsible for producing logos, marketing materials, graphics, and video content promoting the group as well as managing the chorus' social media presence. The chorus serves & performs in the greater Seattle area and features diverse members from all across WA, OR, and BC.

The logo combines the symbolism of an old-fashioned barberpole–an icon commonly used to signify the Barbershop style of vocal harmony–with a more edgy, bold treatment on the surrounding type and a golden colour scheme evoking the chorus' desire to create "gold medal moments" for its audiences. Many different minor variants of the logo had to be produced to fit a wide variety of sizes of display and background colours across physical & digital media.

Logo variants were desired for displaying the chorus brand at various sizes and against different background colours, with all retaining the capital I barberpole icon denoting the barbershop vocal style.
